IShowSpeed announced that he’d be multistreaming on Twitch and YouTube to allow his audience to watch on either platform. Not only did he put himself at the top of YouTube, he also reigned supreme on Twitch at the same time and held the top spot on both platforms.
IShowSpeed has already broken a number of livestreaming records and is known the world around for being a traveler, athlete, and performer. He does a lot more than just streaming games these days, although he’ll dip his toes back in here and there to do a gaming marathon with Kai Cenat.
His world adventures have captured audiences everywhere, with people tuning in to see where on the globe he is next. And, after years away from the platform, he decided to stream his travels on Twitch as well as YouTube.
And, though his YouTube viewership still dwarfs his Twitch following, he managed to hold the top livestreaming spot on both of them at the same time.
IShowSpeed shows streaming dominance on Twitch and YouTube
Twitch has been gradually loosening their restrictions on multi-platform streaming, allowing people to broadcast across multiple platforms at the same time. And, though IShowSpeed was at one point banned from Twitch indefinitely, that ban has long since been lifted.
Speed’s venture back to Twitch has been a fruitful one. Even if he has a fraction of his YT viewership on the platform, that fraction is still bigger than the vast majority of Twitch streamers.
With a peak of over 437,000 viewers on YouTube and 48,000 on Twitch, he’s dominating both platforms. And, if you’re thinking this is partially because it’s a slow morning on Twitch, you wouldn’t necessarily be wrong.
Big esports competitions or streamer events can easily eclipse that 48,000 number, but, with big events like LoL’s MSI wrapping up, there wasn’t a whole lot else happening on Twitch that would pull big viewership.
But what was Speed doing that attracted so much attention?
He was panicking on a roller coaster to the point that he passed out on stream, marking the apex of his theme park adventure in Turkey. Streaming himself on roller coasters, water slides, and all sorts of other attractions led to a massive spike in viewership, allowing him to briefly hold the crown on the two biggest streaming platforms out there.
