InZOI will be more than just a life-sim game, thanks to face and motion capture features available in the game.
InZOI isn’t even fully out yet, but it already has so much potential. Published by KRAFTON, this upcoming life-sim is known for its highly realistic graphics, very detailed character creator, and a plethora of other features.
In this game, you can create characters and their family, build your dream home, explore the city, and more. These are all things that a lot of players who enjoy the genre are already familiar with, but there’s one thing that truly makes it stand out.
If you didn’t know, the game allows you to track your real-life expressions and movements and implement them in real-time. This makes InZOIS’s release a huge deal not just for gamers, but for the VTuber community as well.
InZOI will make VTubing more accessible
Over the past few years, it’s become possible for people to be virtual influencers. By using an avatar, they’re free to design their own internet persona and create content without having to reveal their face. The only problem is… of course, not everyone has the privilege or budget to bring their dream appearance to life.
First, you need a model to represent yourself with. If you can create one on your own, that’s great, but most of the time, aspiring VTubers need to commission someone to make their look a reality.
Also, if you’re going for a 3D look, that model needs to be rigged to give it authentic movement. Just like buying the model, this also costs money – the more extensive, natural, and complicated you want the movements to be, the more expensive. And that’s not including all the other streaming peripherals involved.
But thanks to InZOI’s face and motion capture features, getting into the VTubing space is now incidentally much more accessible. This is mainly because it’s possible to create an avatar for yourself, and all you need is the game, a phone, and a webcam.
The way this works is that you can use your phone to scan a QR code in the game, which will prompt you to download an app that will track your expressions. Full body capture requires a different app available on PC.
With all that set up, you should then be able to have Zoi act as your VTuber avatar. As for the result, it looks great. Hololive VTuber Takanashi Kiara has showcased how well they were able to adopt the new game in a recent stream, using a Zoi as her avatar.
The smooth movement and lip-syncing, combined with the realistic graphics, almost make it feel like you’re talking to a real person. One fan said, “Finally, technology that can capture the Kiwawa silliness that we all know and love so much.”
With InZOI being confirmed to have mod support, it’ll be interesting to see how players will be able to unleash their creativity in this new life-sim.
