If you’ve been fighting through countless enemies on your journey to stop the Paintress in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you may have come across a pretty harsh damage cap of 9,999. Luckily, there’s a way to remove that damage cap for good.

Damage is everything in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. While you upgrade your weapons, grab the best attributes and perfect your Parry and Dodge, you’ll need to deal the most damage possible. After all, there’s only so much those weapons and a well-timed dodge can offer you until you start faltering because your attacks aren’t doing much.

However, as you go through the adventure, you may come across a damage cap of 9,999, which is extremely frustrating when your character can deal more than that. So, here’s how to get more damage in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and remove that pesky damage cap.

How to get more damage in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

To remove your damage cap in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you’ll need to get hold of the Painted Power Pictos.

This will offer you the ability that reads: “Damage can exceed 9,999.” Once you have this, it’ll let you choose one character to remove their damage cap.

To get hold of the Painted Power Pictos, just progress through the story until you head to the Inside the Monolith questlines. When you head inside and finally defeat the Paintress, you’ll receive the Painted Power Pictos.

Naturally, given what you have to do to gain the Pictos, this is an extremely late game feature, so it will take a while to get.

Best characters for damage cap removal

As previously mentioned, the damage cap removal is offered to you pretty late in the game, so you won’t benefit from it for a long time. Nevertheless, we suggest offering it to Gustave or Sciel.

You’ll want to give this over to the strongest damage dealer in your party, and for many, that’s either Gustave or Sciel. So, whoever you mainly use in your party, equip the Painted Power Pictos to them and increase their attributes to up their damage even more.
