How much is The Devil’s Plan prize? Season 2 winner fund explained

It’s all to play for in The Devil’s Plan Season 2, aka Death Room, as the contestants battle it out in the hopes of bagging a whopping cash prize – but how much can they win?

The Netflix series has returned with a new cast, tougher matches, and even more betrayals, all set against the high-stakes backdrop of its ever-changing prize fund.

Spoiler alert: it’s not as much as Squid Game: The Challenge, which made history with its $4.56 million jackpot – the second highest in reality TV behind Beast Games.

That being said, The Devil’s Plan Season 2 is offering a life-changing amount, one that very much depends on the outcome of their efforts.

The Devil’s Plan cash prize explained

Just like Season 1, The Devil’s Plan Season 2 prize fund can reach a maximum of 500 million South Korean won. This converts to nearly $359,000. It’s a lot of money, especially when you consider that there can only be one winner

However, much like Squid Game, the prize fund starts at zero. Within each challenge is a prize mission – a hidden objective tied to the main game. If the players meet the conditions, the maximum chunk of the prize fund is added to their total.

For instance, in the first game, Crooked Cops, 100 million won ($71,800) is on the table. If they finish the game within 10 rounds, they’ll get the full lot. After that, 20 million won ($14,350) per round is deducted.

Season 2 prize fund so far

Following two main matches in The Devil’s Plan Season 2 Part 1, the players have added 80 million won ($57,530) out of a possible 200 million won ($143,800) to the prize pot so far.

If you’re wondering why this is so low, in the first game they actually did well. They played 11 rounds in total, meaning only 20 million won was deducted from the 100 million won up for grabs.

However, within the second game, Unknown, they only receive 100 million won if a player is eliminated. And since none were, the pot remains at 80 million won for now.

The Devil’s Plan Season 1 winner

Out of the 12 The Devil’s Plan Season 1 contestants, actor Ha Seok-jin won the prize, walking away with 250 million won ($179,700)

Seok-jin didn’t spend the money right away. Last year, he revealed on his YouTube channel that he wanted to share his winnings with his fellow players.

“I didn’t earn the prize money on my own,” he said. “The 12 participants and the production team collaborated to create a 12-episode series. As the winner, I wanted to offer gifts to the cast members.”

So, he had custom gold coins made for the cast and crew of The Devi’s Plan. As for the rest of it, he told Yahoo! that he wants “to use the money for a good cause to help himself as well as other people.”

“It’s probably different for everyone but I try to strike a balance (between spending and investing). Especially seeing a lot of seniors in the industry, they don’t really have a good balance between spending as well as investing,” he told the outlet.

“I do not want to really be greedy, and just be content… I rather have a comfortable amount that I can live with day by day that gives me a comfortable life.”

The Devil’s Plan Season 2 Part 1 is streaming on Netflix now, with Part 2 set to drop on May 13. Also, read about the one complaint viewers have, the Single’s Inferno crossover, and find more TV shows to get excited about in 2025.
