Hollow Knight Silksong has finally had its Steam page updated, but it’s not the kind of news fans were hoping for.
Speculation about the fate of Hollow Knight Silksong has run rampant, especially in recent months. The game having a very short snippet shown at the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct had fans excited, but there’s been almost complete silence on the game since. A mere tease.
Unfortunately for fans who have been waiting years for the game, the latest update for the game isn’t exactly a great one: The trailer on the game’s Steam store page has been pulled down.
Hollow Knight Silksong trailer gets pulled from Steam
News on Silksong has been sparse at best since its initial announcement, which is a large part of what’s fueling fan reactions to every crumb of news that comes out in the leadup to when we’ll finally get a release date.
However, this new update is moving in the opposite direction, with content being taken away.
A quick visit to Hollow Knight Silksong’s Steam page reveals that the trailer has been pulled down completely. The page is still up, sure, but it only features 6 screenshots and a small description of what the game will be when it’s out.
But this may not be all bad. Considering we’ve had a recent trailer for the game shown at the aforementioned Nintendo Direct, there’s a possibility the trailer’s being cleared to give a more updated look at what the game plays like.
After all, the initial gameplay reveal of Silksong was all the way back in 2019. The game likely looks different now than it did back then.
So, while this may not seem like good news in the short-term, it could also be paving the way for good news in the future. But there’s more bad news in store here.
Steam’s backend previously had the game ordered in a way that gives it a release date of April 29 on the platform. The popular upcoming games were ordered by date at the time, with Silksong sandwiched in the middle. The release order on every page coming soon page that was taken from that article has since been scrambled.
It’s not clear whether this is a Steam update or just some backend weirdness, but that April 29 date is gone, too. Although, it’s still possible that this puts the release date for the game in the Spring/Summer window for 2025.
