Google rolls out Gmail Q&A on Android, a new way to search your inbox with Gemini
Today Google has announced the rollout of Gmail Q&A on Android. This is “a new way of searching your inbox with Gemini”. It’s basically exactly what it sounds like: you can ask Gemini questions about your inbox, in Gmail for Android.
You can ask it anything relating to your emails. This was previously available in Gemini in Gmail on web through the side panel. Gmail Q&A for Android is like that, but on your phone. This feature will make its way to iOS as well, “soon”.
Aside from asking Gemini questions, you can also have it do things like find specific details in your emails, show you unread emails, view only emails from a specific sender, or summarize emails about a specific topic.
To open Gemini in the Gmail app on Android, tap on the black Gemini star at the top right or tap on a “summarize this email” chip. The rollout should take 15 days to complete and have this show up for everyone. Note that you need to have Google One AI Premium, or subscribe to Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, or Education Premium in order to have access to this feature.
