FUJIFILM Corporation has announced the launch of the FUJINON GF500mmF5.6 R LM OIS WR, a new super telephoto prime lens for the GFX Series mirrorless digital cameras. Scheduled for release in June 2024, this lens offers exceptional telephoto performance in a compact and lightweight design.

The GF500mmF5.6 R LM OIS WR is designed to deliver high-resolution images with the GFX Series cameras, capturing fine details such as the sweat of athletes or the feathers of birds. The lens features a combination of powerful telephoto capabilities and lightweight construction, making it suitable for sports, wildlife, and bird photography.
Advanced Optical Design: The lens construction includes 14 groups and 21 elements, with two Super ED lenses and five ED lenses to effectively suppress chromatic aberration. This ensures high-resolution performance throughout the focal range, capturing details beyond the capabilities of the naked eye.
Enhanced Portability: Weighing approximately 1,375g, the GF500mmF5.6 R LM OIS WR is significantly lighter than conventional large-format telephoto lenses. The optimal arrangement of ED and Super ED lenses minimizes chromatic aberration while maintaining a lightweight form factor. The lens also features a weather-resistant structure with 18 points of sealing, and a fluorine-coated front element for added durability in adverse conditions.
Superior Image Stabilisation: The lens achieves up to 6.0 stops of image stabilization by improving the sensing accuracy of camera shake and optimizing the mechanical design. This allows photographers to shoot handheld in challenging super telephoto ranges with confidence.
Fast and Accurate Autofocus: The GF500mmF5.6 R LM OIS WR incorporates an internal focus system with a linear motor, enabling fast and silent autofocus with a minimum delay of approximately 0.31 seconds. The Focus Preset function and Focus Limiter enhance the lens’s usability, allowing for quick adjustments and precise focus.
Pricing and Availability:
The FUJINON GF500mmF5.6 R LM OIS WR will be available in the UK from 17 June 2024, priced at £3,499 including VAT. The FUJINON Teleconverter GF1.4X TC WR will be available for £749 including VAT.
