Fortnite players can now turn into James Gunn’s Superman mid-match

Superman has finally arrived in Fortnite, but it’s much more than just a skin, as you can transform into the Man of Steel mid-game to dish out your own truth and justice.
Fortnite is well known for its high-profile crossovers at this point, with many of the world’s biggest franchises appearing in the long-running battle royale. Chapter 6 Season 3 has continued the trend by bringing a host of DC characters to the game.
Now, after being announced at the start of the season, Clark Kent himself is finally joining the action, as part of a collab with James Gunn’s new Superman movie. But the Last Son of Krypton isn’t just a cosmetic you unlock on the Battle Pass, you can actually put on the cape in a match to wreak havoc.
How to become Superman in Fortnite
To transform into Superman, all you have to do is track down the Superman’s Call crystal and pick it up. The crystal has a chance of spawning in every regular or Zero Build match at a random location, and will be marked on the map for the whole lobby to see.
Whoever grabs it first will be rifted away and return as the Man of Steel, complete with David Corenswet’s likeness and signature suit.
Doing this grants a selection of his most iconic powers, including the ability to fly around the map quickly. You’ll also be able to melt through structures with his heat vision or pummel enemies into the ground with super strength.
However, you’re not indestructible, so taking damage will slowly whittle down your health bar. Once it hits zero, you’ll lose your powers and return to the map as your original character.
The crystal spawns once per match, too, so if you’re lucky enough to get it, be sure to make the most of it.
This isn’t the only tie-in with the movie coming to Fortnite either. From July 15, the Fortress of Solitude will appear as a landmark on the island, where you can interact with Superman and purchase certain services using Bars.
