Fortnite leak reveals even more powerful version of OP sniper rifle for next update

According to a Fortnite leak, a sniper rifle that players already considered OP will return in a forthcoming update that makes it even more powerful.

The Reaper Modular Sniper Rifle hit Fortnite at the start of Chapter 5, which introduced weapon attachments for the first time.

Like other Chapter 5 weapons, players could modify the long rifle with sights, magazines, and barrels. But regardless of these options, the Reaper remained devastating on the battlefield thanks to its damage output and relatively fast fire rate.

Another version of it has since reappeared in Fortnite’s Ballistic game mode. However, there’s reason to believe the regular battle royale experience will soon reembrace the weapon as well.

Reaper Sniper Rifle may return to Fortnite with huge upgrade

According to reputable leaker HYPEX, Fortnite’s next update – set to launch on March 11 – will add several Exotic weapons if they’re “not scrapped.”

The Exotics will reportedly include the Jump Rocket, Collateral AR, Hunting Rifle, Slap Cannon, and Reaper Sniper.

In addition to coming back as an Exotic gun, the Reaper Sniper will also have the ability to track damaged players.

Exotic items are the rarest in Fortnite, typically sharing some stats with their Legendary counterpart, though there’s always one feature that differentiates it from the pack. In this case, the Reaper will have a tracking trait not afforded to its predecessors.

This new feature will likely make the already OP sniper rifle even more powerful than it was in Season 5, not to mention what the Exotic item rarity will do to damage, fire rate, and other stats.

As always, though, players should take the above information with a grain of salt. So far, Epic Games has only confirmed three new weapons for the March 11 update, the Rocket Drill, Pump & Dump, and Outlaw Shotgun. This is also the patch that will add make Outlaw Midas unlockable.
