A new Sniper Rifle has emerged as a meta contender following a huge buff in Warzone Season 4, giving the HDR some real competition for the first time.
Ever since it returned alongside Verdansk back in the Season 3 update, the HDR has been the undisputed king of snipers in Warzone. Its one-shot potential at any range has made it the go-to for players looking to pick off enemies at a distance, and running any other weapon in the class has felt like a major downgrade.
It’s been so dominant that virtually every squad has at least one member running it, allowing them to drop rival teams from the safety of a rooftop.
But following the Season 4 update, a new Sniper Rifle has arrived to steal the HDR’s crown, after being handed a huge buff.
AMR Mod 4 is meta in Warzone after buff
As Black Ops 6’s version of the Barrett .50cal, the AMR Mod 4 has always been a powerful sniper in Warzone. However, its clunky mobility made it tricky to use, and, most importantly, the HDR’s superior range saw it slip down the pecking order.
Season 4 addressed this issue by giving the AMR a massive range buff, increasing its maximum damage range from 88.9m to 114m. Crucially, it retains its ability to one-shot players with a headshot, meaning it can take out an enemy up to 114m with a single well-placed shot.
While it doesn’t quite match the HDR, which can one-shot at any distance, this change makes the AMR MOD 4 a force to be reckoned with. While it’s nice to have the option of downing targets at any range, the vast majority of fights take place within 100m, so you’ll hardly ever feel at a disadvantage.
You can even gain some additional one-shot range by equipping the Monolithic Suppressor and Long Barrel, which increases the range to 150 meters. Although this comes at the cost of some ADS speed, which makes the AMR feel even heavier, it’s a worthy tradeoff.
We’re not alone in singing the sniper’s praises either, as Warzone expert WhosImmortal highlighted it in his breakdown of the 10 best meta loadouts in Season 4. Check out his recommended build below:
- Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
- Barrel: Long Barrel
- Stock Pad: Lightweight Pad
- Rear Grip: Quickdraw Grip
- Fire Mods: .50 BMG Overpressured
If you’re tired of running the HDR in every Warzone match, now is the perfect time to switch to the AMR Mod 4. Just be sure to run a meta SMG like the C9 to keep you covered in short-range fights.
