Focal Announces Utopia Cinema Range at ISE 2025

Following the launch of its Utopia Main studio monitors, French manufacturer Focal transitioned to Integrated Systems Europe 2025 to introduce Utopia Cinema, a range designed for private cinema rooms of up to 2153 sq ft (200m²). Focal Utopia Cinema includes the Cinema LCR 3-way loudspeaker and the Cinema SUB subwoofer. According to Focal, these new Utopia products are the result of a meticulous and extensive development phase, in an effort to deliver an unprecedented level of performance and to create a complete modular solution for custom systems.
 

In its quest to deliver uncompromising sound from post-production right through to the listening room, Focal Utopia Cinema features the latest audio technologies from the brand’s professional division, including the revolutionary Utopia Main studio monitors unveiled on January 15. The Utopia Cinema system is built around a full-range, high SPL-capacity loudspeaker design that adapts to the requirements of the most optimized listening environments. Different crossover settings, such as the 0–30° selector, maximize the performance of each loudspeaker depending on its purpose (central, left or right channel).

The choices of drivers are based on the same uncompromising approach as any other speaker design in the Focal Utopia range. Starting with a new 1.5” M-shaped beryllium tweeter, improved by a 1″ coil and optimized heat dissipation. This driver extends the ultra-high response with no distortion, while halving THD to 3kHz thanks to TMD (Tuned Mass Damper) technology complete with a Poron surround. Its rear acoustic environment is also fully optimized with a waveguide and IAL (Infinite Acoustic Load) technology, further enhancing its sound performance.

Next is the new 5″ M-shaped midrange, which is capable of delivering an impressive dynamic range and transparency, thanks to the sound optimization of its magnet to prevent resonance. This shallow driver features a small-roll surround with integrated TMD technology that significantly reduces intermodulation and delivers ultra-natural reproduction in critical voice elements.

The response is then extended by a 13″ high-excursion W-cone woofer, housed in an impressively solid cabinet, fitted with a large vent. By combining super-light moving components with a flexible surround, it offers excellent articulation and definition.

For the Focal Utopia Cinema, the French company also created the new Cinema SUB, described as “the ultimate subwoofer for demanding audio environments.” It’s two 13” woofers guarantee maximum excursion and uncompromising bass control down to 19Hz. Thanks to its advanced design, the Cinema SUB blends seamlessly into multichannel systems, enhancing every explosion or musical nuance for a fully immersive experience, and adapting to waveforming and bass-management configurations. This subwoofer has been created to meet the demands of high-SPL configurations, even in the most spacious cinema rooms.

 

Together, these speaker elements create a modular system that can be fixed onto or into the wall, positioned horizontally or vertically, and with the desired number added, to achieve an on-demand sound pressure level. Configurations are limited only by the size of the space in which the solution is integrated. The Focal Utopia Cinema LCR and Cinema SUB can also be combined with loudspeakers from the Focal 1000 Series. Both ranges feature the same technologies, from the ‘W’ cone to the beryllium tweeter, and both deliver an immersive listening experience with the same signature sound.

Unit prices are $11,999 for the Cinema LCR, and $5,999 for the Cinema SUB, both available from September 2025.
