Dr Gorst just got the perfect ending in Andor Season 2 Episode 6

Dr Gorst just returned in the newest arc of Andor Season 2 – and he meets an explosive, well-deserved end at the hands of Bix and Cassian. Warning: some may find this content distressing.

Bix has been struggling since the start of Andor’s second season. In the first three episodes, an Imperial officer tried to rape her on Mina-Rau, and in the latest batch, she struggles with nightmares about her experience with Dr Gorst and relies on drugs to help her sleep.

Lest we forget, she suffered through the first season. When she refused to tell Dedra Meero anything about the resistance, she enlisted the diabolical services of Dr Gorst – in other words, he tortured her.

When we meet him again, we’ve already heard from Partagaz that the Empire wants to expand Gorst’s operation. Thankfully, Bix and Cassian take steps to make sure that doesn’t happen.

Who is Dr Gorst?

Dr Gorst is an Imperial interrogator who uses psychological torture on suspects to make them divulge information. He’s played by Joshua James (Industry, Black Mirror).

As per Star Wars’ databank, he’s described as a “cruel Imperial interrogator [who] uses his detailed knowledge of psychology and physiology to concoct new and horrific methods of interviewing persons of interest and coercing testimony from prisoners of the Empire.”

Little is known about how he came to work for the Empire’s Imperial Security Bureau, but we do know exactly how he developed his unique torture method.

“What’s important for our purposes here today is that the massacre of the Dizonites was broadcast and recorded as proof of mission,” he explained to Bix in Season 1.

“They make a sound as they die. A sort of choral, agonized pleading. It was quite unlike anything anyone has ever heard before. There were three communications officers monitoring the documentation, and they were found hours later huddled together in various states of emotional distress, in a crawl space beneath the ship’s bridge.

“We’ve taken the recordings and modified them slightly, layering, adjusting. And we found a section of what we believe are primarily children, which has its own particular effect. Doesn’t take long. It won’t feel that way to you inside. But, um, let me know when you’re willing to cooperate.”

In short, he makes Bix listen to the sounds of people, including children, being slaughtered, leaving her with PTSD.

What happens to Dr Gorst in Andor Season 2?

Bix forces Dr Gorst to endure his torture device before he dies in an explosion.

It’s no secret that Bix is having a hard time. Cassian knows it, and Luthen tells him he needs to do something about it before she becomes too much of a liability.

Somehow, they track Gorst down in Coruscant. Bix ambushes him, holding him at blaster-point and forcing him to sit in the same chair she was tortured in. She retrains him, puts on the headset, turns all of the settings up to the max, and walks out as he endures the sound of never-ending agony.

As Bix leaves, she shoots an Imperial guard and Cassian blows up Gorst’s floor.
