Diablo 4 players are accidentally spending money due to “devious” change

Diablo 4 players are claiming that they’ve accidentally spent money on the game’s Reliquaries system due to the newer changes with the User Interface (UI).
Diablo 4 Season 8 marked the arrival of one of the biggest changes in terms of cosmetics. In an attempt to overhaul how players can earn and unlock cosmetics, devs introduced a new system called Reliquaries.
This was essentially an overhaul of the game’s traditional Battle Pass, which was intended as an upgrade, offering players themed rewards from different categories they can unlock.
However, this has come with its own issues as players have since reported that they’re accidentally spending money due to its layout.
Diablo 4 players call out key issue with Reliquaries
With Reliquaries, instead of unlocking rewards linearly, players can choose what they want to prioritize.
Two currencies can be used in this system to purchase cosmetics, the first one being Diablo 4’s premium currency, Platinum, while the latter is called Favor Token, which can be earned by killing monsters.
Now, the main issue that many have pointed out in a Reddit thread is related to the experience of claiming the rewards. When you enter the purchase screen, you’ll be given three options in this same exact order: Claim with Favor Token, Purchase with Platinum, or Cancel.
The problem with this is that not only does having the Purchase with Platinum option in the middle make it easy to click on it accidentally, but as many have pointed out, there is no confirmation screen once you select the option.
Because of this, several players have reported that they’ve spent their Platinum without intending to do so. One user even went as far as calling it “devious”, given its layout.
One user wrote: “It’s been like this forever, and there are no refunds for misclicks. I know because I requested it, but after 5 rounds of tickets, I gave up. They don’t care. It’s intentional.”
Another user called it “very scummy,” explaining that their kids accidentally spent a bunch of Platinum after clicking the wrong button.
Meanwhile, one user who played on a console wrote: “On Xbox, you press ‘x’ to claim, and in the following screen ‘y’ is to buy with tokens and ‘x’ buys with platinum. That can’t be a mistake either. Accidentally pressed ‘x’ twice? Thank you, come again!”
Others have also said that the new system is “confusing” and that “it’s easy to screw yourself over,” hoping that devs would make changes to it.
