Death Stranding 2 hides an awesome Ghost of Yotei Easter egg

Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2 hides a fun little Easter egg for PlayStation’s upcoming Ghost of Yotei. Here’s exactly what it is and how you can find it in your own playthrough.
There’s certainly no denying Kojima loves to break the fourth wall in his games. Whether it’s referencing other popular titles or straight-up including the President of PlayStation Studios, Hermen Hulst, as a character, nothing seems off limits.
Naturally, that trend has continued in Death Stranding 2 with a raft of celebrity appearances, callbacks to other video games, and plenty more in between. Though among the fun inclusions is one Easter egg for a project that’s not yet available.
Upcoming PS5 exclusive Ghost of Yotei, the follow-up to 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima, is featured in Kojima’s new release. Here’s everything you need to know.

It comes a little later into the game, as we’ll explain in more detail below, but it turns out you can find a wearable Ghost of Yotei mask for Sam in Death Stranding 2.
Much like all manner of other cosmetic items, the Yotei mask can be equipped. This allows Sam to wear it out and about while delivering packages across Australia.
It provides no tangible benefit like some other items that boost stamina or keep you warm in snowy areas, but let’s be real, it’s certainly one of coolest coolest-looking masks in the game.
You can grab the Yotei mask by spending a little time in the mountains.
How to get the Ghost of Yotei mask in Death Stranding 2
When it comes to finding the Ghost of Yotei mask, you first need to ensure you’ve met The Adventurer. This facility is located East of the F5 East Distribution Center, just a little over the snowy mountain.
You won’t get the mask right away, however. That’d be too easy. You’ll have to save The Adventurer’s father a few times as he often brushes with death on risky pursuits. After a handful of rescue missions, the father will hand you a nifty reward.
They claim to have stumbled upon the “unusual mask” while exploring the snowy mountains.
“When The Adventurer saw the mask, he was reminded of Mount Yotei in Japan, and named it accordingly,” the description reads.

Now we need to see a BT in Ghost of Yotei. It’s a fair trade.
So, if you just can’t wait to get your hands on the next Sucker Punch title, this lets you live out the fantasy a bit early. At least, in some capacity. Don’t expect Sam to be slicing through samurai anytime soon. But you’ll look a little cooler delivering packages so that’s all that matters.
