CoryxKenshin’s Switch 2 GameStop midnight release shut down by cops

YouTube stars CoryxKenshin and Dashie had their Nintendo Switch 2 release meetup shut down by police after they got to takeover a GameStop.
Lining up for a midnight release, be it a game or a new console, had been a rite of passage for gamers. Many will speak fondly about spending hours in line waiting for a new Call of Duty, the PS5, and even Madden NFL games.
Midnight release parties for games have become a little pointless with the advent of digital downloads, but console releases still get pretty crazy. That was evident with the Nintendo Switch 2 at the start of June.
With the release of the new Switch, YouTubers CoryxKenshin and Dashie took over a local GameStop to meet and greet with fans in Florida. However, after a few hours, the police had to get involved.

“Gamestop asked me to come through to get a chance to meet some of you guys. I asked Cory to come through as a surprise and moral support,” Dashie said in his June 6 YouTube video. “And y’all showed up! I’m super grateful for you guys.”
The YouTuber showed a fair bit of his and Cory meeting with fans, signing memorabilia, talking about games, and even penning their signatures on one fan’s arm. However, the cops eventually showed up to disperse the crowd after they ventured back out the store to meet some others.
“I’m just mad I couldn’t get to meet everybody, y’all,” Dashie said. Though one of the officers was a fan of them, quoting Dashie’s “that f*cking bird that I hate” meme at him.
The police were needed to try and get the two YouTubers out of the store. They eventually managed to get past the crowd and into a car, with Cory slamming the car door on Dashie’s face before he could get in.
“Bro, Cory shut the door in my face thinking it was someone else,” he added.
Dashie thanked the GameStop staff for keeping him and Cory “safe,” as well as being “nothing but nice” to everyone involved, while Cory said it would be “tradition” now.
