While watching Final Destination Bloodlines, a cinema’s ceiling collapsed and ended up injuring one woman.
The Final Destination franchise has always been known to show some of the most gruesome deaths in its movies, and feeling at least a little bit paranoid looking at everyday objects after watching them is no doubt a common experience too.
Although these are just movie scenes at the end of the day, it became a little too real for a 29-year-old woman in Berisso, Argentina, who experienced something similar in real life.
What was supposed to be a special treat on her birthday turned into something horrific, as a chunk of the theatre ceiling reportedly collapsed on her while she was watching Final Destination: Bloodlines
Woman almost went through a real-life Final Destination situation
It all started when Fiamma Villaverde visited a movie theatre in La Plata to celebrate her birthday. According to Infobae, she went to a particular local movie theatre with her 11-year-old daughter and a friend on May 19 to watch the latest installment of the Final Destination franchise.
During the movie, things were normal until the end, when she suddenly felt a piece of the ceiling crashing into her. Villaverde said she first heard “a really loud noise.”
“At first, we thought it was part of the movie because we were so involved, but then a huge piece fell on me,” she explained.
She revealed that since she was “leaning a little over the armrest,” her head was safe and didn’t get hit by any rubble. However, she mentioned that she ended up having some injuries, including a bruise on her knee from the impact.
After the incident, she rushed to the ticket counter and immediately requested a refund. While waiting for an ambulance, she was then approached by the manager, who asked her how she would like to settle this, to which she replied with:
“How do I want to fix this? I’m going to file a complaint. Just imagine if it hit my daughter in the head! They’re being irresponsible!’”
Although she was offered to be taken to the hospital and have her medical expenses covered, she reportedly ended up going to the Berisso hospital on her own, as it was closer to her home.
“I was furious … They did an X-ray. The diagnosis was trauma from the impact. I also have several bruises and need another X-ray on my back in a few days.”
Aside from physical injuries, she also said that now she’s struggling with panic attacks and anxiety.
Revealing she’s “under psychiatric treatment and on medication,” she mentioned: “It’s hard for me to be in crowded places. I hadn’t been to the movies in years. I went because it was my birthday, and look what happened.”
“I haven’t been able to work for days. Who’s going to take responsibility for this?” she added.
