Chinese man found missing 6 days after vanishing into wilderness to forget ex-girlfriend

A Chinese man was reported missing when he disappeared into the mountains with no warning in an effort to forget his ex-girlfriend after an emotional breakup.

Getting over heartbreak can be tough. Some people opt for hitting the gym to sweat out their feelings, while others choose to gobble down their favorite ice cream (ah — tear flavored).

However, one man’s coping mechanism left his family and friends panicking after he left his phone in his apartment and disappeared into the wilderness for six days to forget his ex.

Man sparks search after disappearing into mountains to forget his ex

As reported by the South China Morning Post, the man, named Xiaolin, left his apartment in Hangzhou on June 20 and was seen in the Dalang Mountains around 1 AM the next day.

Three days later, his older brother called police to report him missing, saying he hadn’t heard from his little bro since June 19 — the day before his disappearance.

Officers visited his flat as part of their investigation, where they found that his phone had been left behind.

A search party was quickly organized, using more than 100 police officers and residents to comb the mountains with drones, K9 units and even sonar devices.

Despite their efforts, Xiaolin didn’t appear until June 26, when he was discovered on security cameras in a park wearing ragged clothing looking worse for wear.

Xiaolin was spotted in a park after going missing for six days to forget his ex.

According to Yuhang Police Station’s deputy director Zhu Liliang, Xiaolin managed to hike a total of 40 kilometers across the mountains, drinking water from streams and eating wild fruits and berries to stay alive. In fact, he hadn’t eaten anything for the first three days of his trek.

He hadn’t brought any survival equipment with him whatsoever, with authorities explaining that he’d merely wanted to get away after experiencing a rough breakup.

“When we found him, his clothes were in tatters,” Zhu said. “He did not eat or drink for the first three days. Later, when his body could not take it anymore, he drank from mountain springs and ate food found near village homes.”

Xaiolin was discovered with his clothes in “tatters” after spending six days in the mountains eating berries and drinking from streams to survive.

Xiaolin promised not to cause his family distress again after realizing how panicked they were by his disappearance.

This is just the latest breakup to go viral after TikTok’s tallest couple, 6’1 and 6’9, announced their split earlier this year, leaving viewers stunned.
