Celestion Introduces CF1230BMB Extended Excursion Compact Bass/Midbass Pro Audio Woofer

Celestion introduced the CF1230BMB 12-inch woofer, suited to both bass and midbass professional audio applications. The new ferrite magnet, cast aluminum chassis driver is engineered for a longer throw than conventional midbass speakers, being able to produce more low-end when loaded into conventional two-way enclosures. Celestion also says the new compact woofer excels as a bass unit in compact subwoofer applications.

As one of the world’s leading suppliers of professional loudspeakers and compression drivers for sound reinforcement applications, Celestion understands how to maximize existing loudspeaker technologies and fabrication methods to generate maximum performance from apparently conventional designs. The new Celestion CF1230BMB features a 3″ copper-clad aluminum voice coil on a glass fiber former, providing 700W continuous power rating and 96dB sensitivity with an output frequency range of 50Hz to 3,000Hz.

The glass loaded paper (weather-resistant) cone in this compact woofer is enhanced by a half-roll elastomer surround that enables greater Xmax and maximum mechanical excursion (Xmech), compared to a conventional 12″ mid-bass speaker. Additionally, a demodulation ring results in reduced harmonic and intermodulation distortion.

These features make the driver a natural solution for discreet, compact subwoofer applications. As the driver also performs very smoothly up to 3kHz, the CF1230BMB is also an interesting option for 2-way designs with the extra advantage of exceptional low frequency performance. The CF1230BMB features Celestion’s smart airflow vented magnet assembly for dynamic heat dispersion to minimize power compression during operation and a modified T-pole magnet assembly to enhance performance through improved Bl symmetry, hence lower distortion.

Developed at Celestion’s headquarters in Ipswich, England, this loudspeaker has been designed using specialist in-house software deploying FEA (Finite Element Analysis) modeling techniques, enabling the Celestion engineering team rapidly to achieve genuine increases in performance, that translate into greater product longevity, and exceptionally low distortion.

“This new high-performance cast aluminum loudspeaker is another example of Celestion’s continuing commitment to delivering a wide range of high-quality solutions for sound reinforcement and professional audio applications,” the brand states.
