CEDAR Audio Renowned Audio Processing and Forensic Tools Now Available as Plugins

For more than 36 years, CEDAR has been renowned for its groundbreaking audio processing, whether in hardware, software, dedicated systems, or through 3rd-party collaborations with some of the biggest names in the industry. Now, the British company announced a rethinking of its software products as CEDAR icons, a series of more affordable VST3/AU/AAX compatible plug-ins that will be available for download from CEDAR’s new online shop.
Among the CEDAR icons plugins, we can find many of the best and most successful processes from the company, together with new ones that develop the art and science of audio processing even further. With attractive new pricing, the company expects that these new CEDAR plugins will be adopted by a number of potential new users and a much wider customer base who have never had the opportunity to own or use CEDAR in the past.
“We are anticipating online sales to be significantly higher at our new prices, so in a major change, we’re expanding our online shop so that customers can purchase, download, and install their icons immediately. Of course, they will also be able to take advantage of our free trials, which allow them to run completely unencumbered products for 14 days at no cost,” the company announced. “We will also be adding some of the most highly respected CEDAR Studio 9 processes to the shop as well as our Forensic Enhance plug-in, which is designed to increase the intelligibility of badly degraded recordings. All of these will be available at new prices that will bring CEDAR to a whole new generation of live sound engineers, studio and post engineers, podcasters, and more.”
To support the initiative, CEDAR has spent the last six months creating a new website that is described as clearer, brighter, and more navigable. “CEDAR has never been comfortable with charging for software upgrades, and we’re extending this even further by offering our customers free upgrades from any relevant CEDAR Studio processes to the icons equivalent. All they need to do is download the latest software and install it.”

On April 7, 2025, CEDAR launched the first eight plugins, with more to follow during the course of the year. These fall within the Live Sound series, offering near-zero latency for live sound and live-to-air use, and the Production series, concentrating on post in all of its forms. The Live Sound series are defined by what the company calls CEDAR Quantum technology, using algorithms with less than 1ms latency. Included in this series is the new CEDAR StageVox, a near-zero latency noise suppression plug-in designed specifically for singers, that not only reduces noise, it also suppresses excessive reverberation. Like many of the new plugins, users can run as many simultaneous instances as they need.
Also new is CEDAR ScreenVox, again a near-zero latency noise suppression for the spoken word that inherits the company’s legendary digital dialogue noise suppressor technology that transformed noise reduction in film, TV production, post, newscasting, and sports reporting, and received an Academy Award for services to the movie industry. As a dedicated plugin, ScreenVox combines the latest advances in CEDAR’s Quantum near-zero latency with noise reduction, ensuring no loss of lip-sync.
Also now available as a plugin is a CEDAR DNS One, the renowned dialogue clean-up tool that was recognized by the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences, now as an evolved Quantum-powered tool with unique LEARN capability and controls to determine the range of frequencies to be processed.

In the Production series, with tools that have a latency greater than 1ms, CEDAR is now offering its Adaptive Limiter 2, which includes the Emmy Award winning algorithm called CEDAR Spectral Limiting. This calculates a continuously varying EQ profile that accurately constrains the amplitude for precise limiting that retains the integrity of the audio. With controls to determine how quickly the profile varies in time and the amount by which it can vary from frequency to frequency, Adaptive Limiter 2 offers new flavors of dynamic control that are capable of pushing the audio further than ever before.
Also completely new is the CEDAR VoicEX 2, an advanced voice extractor based upon CEDAR’s latest advances in marrying cutting-edge DSP and AI-based audio processing. VoicEX 2 sets a new standard for real-time noise reduction and the elimination of unwanted reverb, requiring much lower processing power than the original VoicEX and with an improved response as the signal-to-noise ratio deteriorates. Where users might expect numerous controls, they’ll find find just two – one to determine the loudness of the background, and the other to control the loudness of the speech.
Included in the Production Series are also the CEDAR Declip, CEDAR Declick, and CEDAR Decrackle plugins for audio restoration.

In addition to the new CEDAR Icon plugins, CEDAR is now offering five of the processes from its CEDAR Studio 9 as individual products with attractive new prices. Those include CEDAR Retouch, the spectral editing restoration tool, CEDAR Auto Dehiss, CEDAR Debuzz, CEDAR Manual Declick, and CEDAR Dethump. Finally, CEDAR also made the Forensic Enhance filter bank available to everyone who needs to clean up forensic speech recordings to increase intelligibility.
