Canon is rumored to be gearing up for a big year in 2025, with reports suggesting the release of three new EOS R cameras. According to Canon Rumors, these new additions will include two full-frame cameras and one APS-C model, each bringing something different to the table. The most intriguing aspect is the variety of camera types being discussed: a video-oriented APS-C camera, a retro-style full-frame camera, and a full-frame ultra-high-resolution camera.

Canon has reportedly been testing a 102-megapixel sensor for several years, and 2025 may finally see the release of this “resolution monster.” However, questions remain about the demand for such a high pixel count in the market, especially considering the performance of Canon’s existing RF lenses, which are more than capable of handling the extra resolution.
