Cambridge Audio Rebranding and New Evo 150 SE Enhanced Streaming Amplifier

Cambridge Audio, the British brand that has been synonymous with high-performance audio for over five decades, announced a rebranding that is intended to reinforce the connection with people and the power of music. The choice was to drop the “Audio” in the new logo, which will be introduced in the latest 2025 products. The first product to feature the single word is the Evo 150 SE, an enhanced special edition of the company’s latest streaming amplifier.

The choice was to drop the “Audio” in the new logo, which will be introduced in the latest 2025 products. The first product to feature the single word is the Evo 150 SE, an enhanced special edition of the company’s latest streaming amplifier.

“Built by music lovers, for music lovers,” Cambridge wants to celebrate the fact that it remains a fully independent brand in an era of conglomeration. An independence that the company believes is reflected in a creative advantage that allows Cambridge to stay agile and remain uncompromising in its pursuit of innovation.

“When I took over Cambridge Audio in 1994, it was a brand with a rich legacy that had fallen into neglect. I’m incredibly proud of the place it’s since become and of the phenomenal, joyful team we have today. Cambridge is ready for a new era, and I’m confident that this rebrand – together with many exciting new products we have coming – will connect our passion for music to an even wider audience,” says James Johnson-Flint, owner of Cambridge Audio.

The new branding, crafted in partnership with Only, an award-winning branding agency in the UK, reflects Cambridge’s heritage while reinforcing its lifestyle aspects, with products “inspired by music, shaped by culture, and crafted by design.”

Whether it’s vinyl or streaming, headphones or hi-fi separates, Cambridge’s new identity wants to break out of the traditional hifi world and step into something more contemporary, giving the brand more room to move, from product to packaging, from social to store.

Evo 150 SE Streaming Amplifier

As part of this brand relaunch, Cambridge announced the new Evo 150 SE streaming amplifier, already carrying the company’s new logo. This product, powered by the latest Hypex NCOREx Class-D amplifiers (2x 150W, 8 Ohms), officially “Tuned by Cambridge” supports all the music streaming services and Internet Radio, featuring HDMI ARC and an MM phono stage. The large 6.8” color screen offers a choice of VU meters, album artwork, or clock display, and the chassis offers swappable real wood and modern ridged side panels.

“Evo 150 has been a very special product for Cambridge, merging true hifi sound with lifestyle-friendly aesthetics and convenience in a way that has really resonated with listeners. For this special edition, we’ve pushed the boundaries of what to expect from Class-D amplification – an even more musical, emotive listening experience in a design that has been further refined,” explains Matt Dore, Chief Technical Officer of Cambridge.

“After hundreds of hours auditioning many different component variations, and through improving the quality of the components that really matter, we have made Evo 150 SE sound more detailed, open, engaging, and downright enjoyable than its award-winning predecessor, Dore adds.

For maximum wireless flexibility, Evo 150 SE already offers the options of Bluetooth aptX HD, AirPlay 2, and Google Cast, and it is fully compatible with Google Home, Apple AirPlay, and Roon multiroom systems​. RCA and balanced XLR inputs are complemented with two optical digital inputs, a coaxial digital input, USB Audio, and USB Media options, which are converted through an ESS Sabre ES9018k2m DAC.

A dedicated sub out, pre-outs for using the Evo 150 SE as a preamplifier, and two pairs of speaker outputs enable the use of dual listening zones. Cambridge also offers the Evo CD, a dedicated compact disc transport designed to match the Evo 150 SE. While all of Evo 150 SE’s functionality can be accessed via the StreamMagic app, and the HDMI ARC connection enables simple volume control through a TV remote, a dedicated remote control is supplied to ensure complete ease of use for anyone in the room.

The Cambridge Evo 150 SE is available from July 2025, priced at EUR €2399 or USD $3299.
