Burger King’s hit Naruto collab is finally coming to the US… kinda

Burger King’s viral Naruto collaboration is officially heading stateside on July 21, but fans hoping for a full-blown anime takeover might want to temper expectations.

Back in January, French Burger Kings went all-in with a limited-time Naruto event that rebranded locations as “BKonoha,” complete with themed meals, exclusive merch, and stylish packaging. It was a massive hit with anime fans.

Now, American anime fans are finally getting their turn. Sort of.

Starting July 21, US Burger King locations will roll out a Naruto-themed King Jr. Meal, which includes one of six collectible toys featuring beloved characters from the franchise: Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Kakashi, Rock Lee, and Gaara.

But unlike the French collab, the US version stops at the toys.

Naruto invades American Burger Kings

In France, fans could order custom “Menu Naruto” and “Menu Sasuke” meals, complete with specialty burgers inspired by the two rivals.

Naruto’s came with a flame-grilled beef patty, orange soy sauce, and fried onions, while Sasuke’s swapped in a crispy chicken patty and ketchup. Both were served with exclusive items like a Naruto ninja headband hat and a Sasuke-themed t-shirt.

No such meals or merch are planned for the US release, and, as per ScreenRant, Burger King has yet to explain why the fuller experience isn’t making its way across the Atlantic.

Still, for American anime fans, it’s a small win and a sign that Naruto’s global influence isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

This isn’t the first time Burger King France has been the envy of the fast food world, either. In 2024, KFC France and Burger King France united for a surprise ‘BFF Burger’ collaboration.
