Boudoir Photographer Wears Lingerie to Make Clients Feel Comfortable

An outdoor boudoir photographer has been praised online for dressing in lingerie to make her clients feel more comfortable on shoots.

Victoria โ€œToriโ€ Caring runs traveling outdoor boudoir photography company Risq with her husband Kyle Caring and shoots clients across the U.S.

Risq has amassed a huge following on social media, with over 140,000 followers on TikTok.

In a viral TikTok video, that has amassed over 5.6 million views and 600,000 likes, Tori revealed that she wears lingerie on outdoor boudoir shoots to put her clients at ease.

Thousands of viewers praised Toriโ€™s โ€œgeniusโ€ clothing choice on shoots โ€” commenting that they would have felt โ€œso much comfortableโ€ and โ€œconfidentโ€ if their boudoir photographer had worn lingerie too.

โ€˜Not a Lot of People Offer Thisโ€™

Tori, who is originally from California, was inspired to start her outdoor boudoir photography company Risq after seeing a gap in the market. Tori realized that there werenโ€™t many boudoir photographers catering to people who wanted to do empowering and body-positive shoots outside in nature.

Two women wading in a rocky river. One woman in a maroon swimsuit faces away while the other, wearing a blue swimsuit, stands in the water taking a photo with a DSLR camera. Both appear to be enjoying the natural surroundings.

A person wearing a green lace bodysuit stands in a shallow river, holding a camera with a strap around their neck. They point forward while looking at another person, who is partially visible with their back turned toward the camera. Trees and hills are in the background.

โ€œAfter the COVID-19 pandemic, I realised I didnโ€™t want to be part of the corporate world anymore and I only wanted to do things that bring me joy,โ€ Tori tells PetaPixel.

โ€œI had been doing photography as a hobby for 15 years or so and after the pandemic, I started shooting in nature more.

โ€œAround the same time, my friend asked to take some sexy boudoir photos for her boyfriend. I had never done boudoir before, but the shoot was so much fun!

โ€œLater on, my husband and I realized that not a lot of people were offering outdoor boudoir photography. Like 99% of boudoir photographers shoot inside in a studio or a property.

โ€œSo we started testing outdoor boudoir shoots out and we absolutely fell in love with the work!

โ€œWe loved integrating nature and healing into boudoir photography and empowering people to love their body as it is.

โ€œSo my husband and I went all in with the idea of outdoor boudoir photography and founded Risq.โ€

โ€˜I Didnโ€™t Always Wear Lingerie on Shootsโ€™

While Tori always wears lingerie on shoots now, this wasnโ€™t always the case. The photographer tells PetaPixel that she used to wear normal clothes until an experience with a friend on a boudoir shoot.

Three people are on rocky terrain in front of a cliff. Two are photographers, one in casual attire and another in a blue one-piece swimsuit, both taking photos of the third person. The third person, wearing a beige crochet dress, is smiling and posing barefoot. Pine trees are visible in the background.

Two individuals embrace joyfully near a waterfall. One wears a black swimsuit, and the other wears a lacy white cover-up over a swimsuit. They are smiling broadly, sharing a moment of happiness and connection amidst a natural rocky backdrop.

โ€œI didnโ€™t always wear lingerie,โ€ Tori says.

โ€œWhen I first started out, I did lots of test boudoir shoots with friends. There was one occasion when my longtime friend got so nervous before her shoot and couldnโ€™t relax.

โ€œI tried so many strategies until I eventually asked her โ€˜What do you need from me?โ€™

โ€œAnd she just answered: โ€˜Well, Iโ€™m the only one dressed like this.โ€™

โ€œIt just clicked for me. I had already done some self-portraits in lingerie earlier that day so I changed back into that.

โ€œWhen I returned to the shoot, my friendโ€™s demeanor totally changed and she completely relaxed.

โ€œIt totally changed the game for the photo shoot, so I started doing it more and more.โ€

โ€˜Lingerie is my Uniform Nowโ€™

For outdoor boudoir photo shoots, Tori says that wearing lingerie allows her to be in tune with her clients and their needs.

Two women are interacting in a snowy forest scene. One, wearing a dark coat and flip-flops, stands on the snow. The other, in a sleeveless top, skirt, and boots, leans on a wooden railing. Snow-covered ground and trees are visible in the background.

โ€œObviously, a lot of boudoir photographers donโ€™t wear lingerie too when theyโ€™re doing a shoot, which totally makes sense! But that creates an imbalance there,โ€ Tori explains.

โ€œI wear lingerie so that my clients are not the only ones who are half-naked but also so that weโ€™re both on the same page. Weโ€™re both being vulnerable,โ€

โ€œEspecially on outdoor shoots, it helps me stay in balance with our clients and their needs.

โ€œFor example, if itโ€™s snowing outside and theyโ€™re in lingerie, then so am I. So I know if my clients need to take a break or warm up during the shoot.

โ€œLingerie is my uniform now!โ€
