Black Ops 6 skins may carry forward to Black Ops 7 but not everyone is happy

CoD fans think that Black Ops 7 will allow you to keep hold of all your Blueprints and skins from BO6, but not everyone is as excited by the possibility as you might think.

More often than not, a new Call of Duty means a hard reset for multiplayer, bringing a totally new set of guns, maps, and skins. Unlike Warzone, which features content from every game since MW2.

However, when Modern Warfare 3, which was a direct continuation of MW2, launched back in 2023, all purchases and unlocks from the previous year carried over.

Given that 2025’s Black Ops 7 also comes just one year after Black Ops 6, it appears that a similar feature will be in place – at least according to the game’s official ESRB rating.

Black Ops 7 fans think carry forward feature is returning

As revealed on July 21, BO7 will once again be rated M for mature, but it was another line that caught the players.

The summary directly mentions characters inhaling from a “bong-like structure attached to a rifle” and doing the same during “execution sequences,” likely referencing the ‘Bongshot’ Blueprint and ‘Toke-a-Bloke’ Finishing Move.

This points towards purchases from Black Ops 6 being available in Black Ops 7, unless the new game has very similar 420-themed content on offer right from the start.

On paper, all of your unlocks and purchases being usable for another year should be a win, but the controversial crossover skins have made some players less keen on the idea.

“Crazy how the idea of carry forward should be seen as a huge positive for us as consumers but BO6 has completely ruined the idea of it with stupid collab after stupid collab… What a joke,” said TheGhostOfHope on X.

“I’d love stuff to carry forward but I’m sick of seeing TMNT, American Dad, [Beavis and Butt-Head] in every game I play. Ffs,” added another fan.

Meanwhile, others were far more positive, celebrating the fact that they might still have access to their favorite skins in the new game.

“Umm if I paid for skins, content, heck yeah I want it to carry forward. I don’t understand what I’m missing here,” said one player.

It’s worth keeping in mind that this is all based on the ESRB rating, and nothing has been officially confirmed just yet. If carry forward does return, we should find out more at the official Black Ops 7 reveal at Gamescom or the CoD Next event rumored for September.
