Black Ops 6 King of the Dead event explained

Black Ops 6 has brought a constant stream of unlockable cosmetics through its events, and the King of the Dead is up next.

The Season 4 Reloaded update is almost here, bringing Resurgence Ranked Play back to Warzone, the fan-favorite Fringe map to multiplayer, and new Zombies events and LTMs.

Alongside the Abomination Challenge and Starting Room modes, the King of the Dead event arrives in the update, so here’s everything we know about it.

When is the Black Ops 6 King of the Dead event?

All we know is that Black Ops 6’s King of the Dead event goes live in Season 4 Reloaded, but July 3 is the most likely date.

The event was originally scheduled to arrive on Thursday, June 26, which was also the day everyone expected S4 Reloaded to be released. However, Rivals doesn’t finish until July 3, and we usually have a blog post a few days before the update, but it hasn’t arrived as of June 25.

There’s also the ‘Master of Grief’ event set for the mid-season, but it’s not clear if it’ll come after King of the Dead or alongside it.

King of the Dead is the third confirmed Season 4 event.

How does it work?

The event is only in Black Ops 6’s Zombies mode, where you “Eliminate zombies in any Zombie mode to earn points to climb the leaderboard.”

“As you’d expect, you receive more points for dispatching the harder zombie types,” explained the devs. “This, in turn, causes you to climb the Zombies leaderboard, and once the Event is over, rewards will be granted based on your leaderboard position.”

Rest assured, you’ll get a reward no matter where you place, but the best ones are reserved for those who place at the top of the leaderboard.

Olympia and Pickaxe weapons

The Olympia and Pickaxe melee weapons are unlocked through Season 4 Reloaded, so we expect one to be unlocked through King of the Dead, and the other to be unlocked through Master of Grief.

Event camo reward

As revealed in the June 17 edition of the COD POD, a S4 Reloaded event brings a “new weapon camo mastery reward.”

“You can earn that weapon camo as the mastery reward, and if you own BlackCell, you actually have the opportunity to get two camos, so look out for that,” said Senior Director of Communications, Stephanie Snowden (timestamp: 42:47).

With no other events confirmed for Season 4 Reloaded, we expect it to either arrive in the King of the Dead or the Master of Grief event.

The devs have also confirmed that the final BO6 Zombies map arrives with the Season 5 update, which is set for August 7.
