Black Ops 6 brings back popular weapon but players demand a major buff

The Black Ops Tribute event in BO6 brought back a popular weapon, but players think it’s underpowered compared to the older versions.

Season 3 of Black Ops 6 and Warzone has been all about celebrating the history of Call of Duty. The original Verdansk map returned for the first time in years, alongside iconic guns like the Kilo 141 Assault Rifle and HDR Sniper Rifle.

The nostalgia continued with the Black Ops Tribute event, which offered a number of rewards inspired by Treyarch’s previous games, including the secret John Black Ops skin. Among the prizes is the Nail Gun, last seen in Black Ops Cold War, but while fans are happy to see the weapon make a comeback, there’s one major problem.

Black Ops 6 demand buff to underpowered Nail Gun

Just like it was in BOCW, the Nail Gun is a fully automatic secondary that’s deadly at close range. However, while it’s perfect for gunning down enemies right on top of you, it lacks the range and velocity to be effective outside of a few meters.

This was disappointing to many players, who felt that it would be much more fun to use if it packed a little more punch. One Reddit user said that it’s “definitely not the nail gun of old” and urged Treyarch to buff its range.

“Don’t need it to be a sniper but it’s not a melee weapon either,” said the OP. “The fall off of the nails is drastic. Only think it would be more fun if it was a bit stronger.”

Plenty of other fans agreed, with one replying: “1000%. Very powerful and fun. It just needs a decent velocity so you don’t have to start leading a target after 5m and aiming higher to account for the brutal nail drop.”

Meanwhile, players in different posts argued that the Nail Gun should have been added in a similar way to Black Ops 3’s DIY-11, where it was more of a fully-fledged SMG with attachments and camos to grind.

“The BO3 DIY-11 Renevator is by far the best Nail Gun in the franchise and it felt so good to use,” claimed one player. “I don’t like how Cold War & BO6 changed it up to feel worse & make it like a secondary.”

However, while plenty of fans were desperate to see the Nail Gun get a buff in a future update, others were a little more hesitant, arguing that it doesn’t need to be any more powerful.

“It’s a nail gun. It’s not meant to shoot from window to window on Nuketown,” added another reply.

The next major update for Black Ops 6 is Season 3 Reloaded, so only time will tell if Treyarch decides to make some adjustments to the Nail Gun and give it a buff.
