Bang & Olufsen announced the third-generation Beosound A1, a reimagined version of its most affordable portable Bluetooth speaker, now combining enhanced performance with a circular design, extended battery life, and even better sound. Created in collaboration with renowned Danish designer Cecilie Manz, the A1 3rd Gen balances the minimalist lines with advanced acoustics, creating an even more appealing product – the most affordable from Bang & Olufsen.

The updated Beosound A1 features the largest woofer in its class, delivering deeper bass with an SPL of 64dB – 2dB more than its predecessor. While these days there are compact Bluetooth speakers that sound surprisingly good, the Beosound A1 delivers what can be described as a rich sound, even at low and moderate volumes. And that’s when battery life now extends up to 24 hours, ensuring long-lasting performance anywhere. Plus, since many of the existing Beosound A1 users will likely feel tempted to buy the new model, it’s good to know that stereo pairing between both 2nd and 3rd Gen models is possible.

The Beosound A1 is a Bluetooth 5.1 design, which is fine for a speaker that isn’t Auracast-enabled. In compensation, it includes a three-microphone array to enable use as a speakerphone and deliver excellent call quality, also thanks to the integrated DSP enhancement algorithms. With Microsoft Swift Pair and Google Fast Pair, the A1 will also connect instantly to Bluetooth devices to establish communications.

Clearly understanding the appeal of a lifestyle product that broadens the customer base for Bang & Olufsen, the new Beosound A1 is a sculptural object, crafted from pearl-blasted aluminum with 2,173 precision-milled holes and a soft, waterproof leather strap. The speaker is available in Bang & Olufsen’s classic Natural Aluminum colorway, as well as two new finishes: Honey Tone and Eucalyptus Green, inspired by nature.

Refined design details include a redesigned aluminum strap lock by Cecilie Manz, reinforcing the minimalist expression while enhancing its robustness. With an IP67 rating, the Beosound A1 is fully dust and waterproof.

“Beosound A1 3rd Gen represents everything we stand for at Bang & Olufsen – beautiful sound, enduring design, and a commitment to doing things better. It’s a speaker that not only elevates everyday listening but also reflects our vision for more thoughtful, lasting products. We’re proud to offer something that combines aesthetic integrity with meaningful innovation,” says CEO Kristian Teär.

Built with a modular architecture and designed for a 10-year lifetime in its first useful lifecycle, the A1 3rd Gen applies circular design principles. This modular Bluetooth speaker is the first in the world to be Cradle to Cradle Certified (Bronze Level). This ambitious certification aims to support a serviceable, upgradeable, and repairable approach to product design.

A replaceable battery by professionals in Bang & Olufsen stores and up to 5 years’ warranty with Beocare further reflect Bang & Olufsen’s dedication to circular design and enduring value.

The Beosound A1 3rd Gen retails for EUR/USD 349.
