Streaming star Amouranth opened up about the reason why police in Houston, Texas keep an eye on her broadcasts after a terrifying break-in at her home.
On March 2, a trio of armed men broke into Kaitlyn ‘Amouranth‘ Siragusa’s home, pistol-whipping the internet-famous streamer and demanding access to her $20M crypto wallet.
Thinking on her feet, Amouranth took them to another part of her house where her husband Nick Lee was waiting, who managed to shoot one of the intruders before they scattered.
In the days following the shocking attack, Amouranth posted footage from her security cameras on social media after critics accused her of faking the viral ordeal.
Amouranth says Houston police watch her streams
The streamer opened up about the incident in an interview with Rolling Stone, where her husband revealed that the police force in Houston, Texas actually tune into her streams before responding to any calls to her property.
In the interview, Lee said he called the police after scaring the would-be thieves away, but admitted he was worried they might not take him seriously given the numerous swatting attempts on the house due to Amouranth’s online fame.
“I was telling the dispatch, like, ‘You have to send someone right now,’” Lee says. “’This is an armed situation, she’s being held hostage.’ And then even as I said that, I was like, ‘Oh no, they’re not going to believe me.’”
Amouranth publicly revealed her husband, Nick Lee, for the first time in a live stream after three armed robbers broke into her home in March 2025.
Since law enforcement has been tricked several times by callers attempting to swat Amouranth, they’ve developed a policy of checking her live streams to ensure this doesn’t happen, prompting her husband’s caution.
The robbers were successfully detained and now face charges of Aggravated Kidnapping and Aggravated Robbery with a Deadly Weapon as Amouranth continues to lie low and recover from the incident.
Amouranth is far from the only streamer to have endured multiple swatting attempts; several other high-profile broadcasters, including the likes of Kai Cenat, IShowSpeed, and xQc have also been victims of swattings, something the FBI has promised to crack down on, earning praise from content creators.
