Kick streamer Adin Ross was hosting a soccer event when gunshots rang out, sparking panic and prompting Miami law enforcement to shut down the gathering.
Adin Ross is one of the most popular streamers on the internet, best known for his high-profile broadcasts on Kick, where he boasts over 1.6 million avid followers.
Ross has undertaken a slew of athletic projects over the years, such as his Brand Risk influencer-boxing events, and even held tryouts for his very own soccer team, Miami 7FC.
He first unveiled the team, which he co-owns with fellow influencer Jake Paul, earlier in April, which is part of the Kings’ League seven-a-side football competition.
The streamer gathered with his friends and fans to host the tryouts on the night of April 10, but the competition was cut short after gunshots were fired within earshot of the pitch, instantly sparking concern from attendees like prominent streamer FaZe Lacy.
A helicopter could also be seen flying low overhead as police cars pulled up outside the venue. Around three hours into the broadcast, a security guard approached Lacy, explaining that they had to leave the venue due to the gunshots and police presence.
Lacy and Ross were ushered into a car, surrounded by a throng of excited fans and players anxious to learn about the future of the Miami 7FC tryouts — and after ending the stream for a short while, he returned home to reveal what actually happened.
According to Ross, he was forced by Miami police to shut down the tryouts due to gunshots near the location during the finals.
“There were gunshots, okay? And that’s really what happened. So, next time, we gotta do this sh*t indoors. Maybe the police in Miami will work with me,” he explained.
He went on to decry whoever was behind the shooting, apologizing to attendees who’d taken the time to drive out and participate.
“Whoever did that sh*t, I hope you get arrested. I swear to god, you’re a piece of sh*t. I had to [shut it down]; the police officer made me do it. We can’t do the final tonight. I didn’t ditch anything, I had to leave. I couldn’t even leave the car.
“I feel like I failed y’all, bro. I feel really bad. … people drove hours, people put money into this sh*t.”
While Adin Ross’s football tryouts got cut short, he has plenty more events on the horizon and has even pitched the idea of collaborations with other major broadcasters on Twitch, where he was recently unbanned after two years.
