A Working Man ending explained: Does Jason Statham rescue the girl?

A Working Man is a new Jason Statham movie that’s a lot like some of the old Jason Statham movies – here’s how the man-on-a-mission story plays out, including if he saves the girl.

A Working Man follows in the footsteps of films like The Transporter, The Mechanic, and most recently The Beekeeper by having Jason Statham say very little, while getting him to kill a lot.

This time around, he’s a construction worker called Levon Cade, who is charged with the task of finding his boss’s missing daughter Jenny. That journey plunges him into the Chicago underworld, where Cade comes into conflict with drug dealers, sex traffickers, and the Russian mob.

What happens at the end of A Working Man?

At the end of A Working Man, Levon Cade successfully rescues Jenny from the farmhouse where she’s being held captive, and safely delivers the kidnapped girl back to her family.

Russian mobsters who call themselves ‘The Brotherhood’ initially appear to be responsible for Jenny’s abduction, but it’s actually down to one of their number called Dimi, who has gone rogue.

To make money on the side, Dimi sends a couple called Viper and Artemis into bars and clubs, where they photograph girls. Those pictures are then sent to clients who make their selection, and then Viper and Artemis kidnap the chosen girl, and traffic her to said client.

By torturing and killing members of the Brotherhood, Cade figures this out, and the film concludes at a farmhouse where a party is taking place, while Jenny is chained in the basement.

Cade tools up at his old war buddy Gunny’s place and heads for the house, where he first chucks a grenade inside, before shooting up the place in unforgiving fashion.

Once he’s taken out goons on the ground floor, he heads downstairs, and immediately blasts away the sleazy client. Then Levon gets to work on Viper, while Jenny – still chained up – kicks the proverbial out of Artemis, and they kill the couple before heading back upstairs.

Cade continues his rampage on the ground floor, even using a bluetooth device to take out a bad guy. They then exit the farmhouse, jump on a motorcycle, and ride away to safety.

How the finale sets up potential sequel

However, a senior member of the Brotherhood sees them depart, and calls his organization. “The devil has what he wants, let him go,” comes the response. But it’s clear he won’t be able to turn the other cheek, meaning that while Cade is in the clear for the moment, at least one member of the Brotherhood will be coming for him.

Jenny is then delivered home, where her family are overjoyed to have her back, while Cade heads to Gunny to meet up with his own daughter.

Over a happy family dinner, Gunny says to Cade, “Welcome back brother – you’re home,” and the message is clear: the Russians might call themselves the Brotherhood, but Cade and Gunny are true brothers.
