Hades 2 gearing up for full release after 14 months in Early Access

After 14 months in Early Access, Hades 2 now looks to be gearing up for its full release. Developers at Supergiant Games have teased what may be the final update before launch.
Revealed at the tail end of 2022, the announcement of Hades 2 marked new territory for the acclaimed Supergiant team. It would be the studio’s very first sequel. Given the immense popularity of the first game, the surprise sent shockwaves through the gaming industry.
Following a brief technical test, Early Access kicked off in full on May 5, 2024. In just a matter of days, this early build set records for the dev team. It quickly became a smash hit on Steam, reaching over 100,000 concurrent players while taking the top spot as the single best-seller at the time.
Ever since, devs have been hard at work with regular updates adding to the replayability while broadening the experience, much like the first game and its familiar path through Early Access.
Though now, at long last, we’re nearing its full release. The 1.0 version of Hades 2 is drawing ever closer, and Supergiant has now teased the wait will soon be over.
The Early Access launch of Hades 2 was another massive success for Supergiant Games.
Hades 2 drawing near to full release
June 17, 2025 marked the release of the final major content drop in Early Access, known as The Unseen Update. This brought the typical smattering of new gameplay features, conversations, and of course, plenty of new combat options for Melinoë.
At the time of release, devs simply advised fans to keep an eye on the Development Roadmap for details on an “eventual” 1.0 release. Days later, however, a new minor patch with smaller tweaks teased that said 1.0 launch might not be far off.
“We’ll keep monitoring your feedback, though this will likely be our final patch before our v1.0 launch, whenever that will be!”
So, while there’s no clear indication of when Hades 2 may release in full, we do now know the 1.0 build is almost certainly next in line.
For comparison sake, the original Hades was in Early Access from December 2018 through to September 2020, 21 months all up. If Hades 2 is to follow the exact same trajectory, well, that would put the full release at March 2026. We’re willing to bet that won’t be the case, though.
A full launch at the tail end of 2025 appears most likely, though do bear in mind it won’t reach all platforms at the same time. Supergiant recently appeared in a Nintendo Direct presentation, announcing a period of timed console exclusivity.
As such, when Hades 2 does launch in full, it’ll be available on PC and across Nintendo Switch & Switch 2 first. There’s no telling when it may arrive for PlayStation and Xbox fans.
