Ironheart finale showed Mephisto’s terrifying true form and you missed it

Ironheart just introduced one of the most powerful Marvel villains of all time: Mephisto, played by Sacha Baron Cohen – and the finale gave us a sneak peek at his true form.

Cast your mind back to the launch of the MCU’s rebooted small-screen empire with WandaVision. Given his connection to the Scarlet Witch, everyone thought Mephisto – in short, he’s Marvel’s version of the Devil – was involved.

Except… he wasn’t, and he wasn’t name-dropped in the franchise until Agatha All Along. Now, Kevin Feige and co. have finally found a place for him.

In the finale, it’s revealed that Mephisto appeared to Parker and gave him his magical hood, promising him “filthy, greasy” levels of fortune. He also speaks to Riri in a pivotal scene near the end, and if you didn’t look closely the first time, you should go back and watch it again.

The real Mephisto appears on a spoon in the Ironheart finale

If you go to the 27:42 mark in Ironheart Episode 6, you’ll see Mephisto stir his cup of coffee. As he lifts the spoon, you’ll see his devilish red form, resembling his look in the Marvel comics.

There’s definitely excitement among those who spotted it – but fans also seem a bit annoyed that we didn’t get much of him, especially after years of predictions. “So you’re telling me… after ALL THAT TIME, Demon form in a spoon?” one user tweeted.

“Three years of teasing… and instead of putting Mephisto in literally any other show, Marvel drops him in Ironheart. Do we get to see his demon form? No, just a reflection in a spoon. That’s it. That’s the reveal,” another wrote.

“Mephisto’s reflection in the spoon had me gagged omg I knew what was coming,” a third posted. “My glorious king of hell is finally in the MCU after that rumor from WandaVision. I was so busy losing my mind that I completely missed Mephisto’s reflection in the spoon oh my god,” a fourth added.

We know the plot reason: by the end, Riri makes a deal with Mephisto to bring back Natalie. But… why was Ironheart chosen for Mephisto’s long-awaited debut?

“I wish I could answer it more plainly. It was not my decision alone,” Chinaka Hodge, the show’s creator, told Entertainment Weekly.

” I was empowered by Marvel to make that decision… I don’t know what will happen next with the character or with Sasha in the MCU. But as a fan, I’m really hoping to see him make lots of appearances.”
