Former McDonald’s chef reveals “healthiest” item you can order

A former McDonald’s chef has revealed the “healthiest” item that you can order off the menu, and it’s not a salad or something you might expect.

McDonald’s has continually adjusted its menu over the years in a bid to add healthier options. There are a number of popular changes like carrot sticks instead of fries, fruit bags in place of McFlurries, and bottled water instead of picking up a Coke or Fanta.

If you want to pick up something other than a burger, there are salads and vegan options as well, and you’d be easily forgiven for thinking that they are the healthiest menu items out there.

According to Mike Haracz, a former McDonald’s corporate chef, the healthiest menu item is a custom order from the breakfast menu that you probably wouldn’t guess.

McDonald’s healthiest item comes during breakfast

In his June 24 TikTok, the popular chef was quizzed by one fan on the “healthiest” item that has “lower calories, lower cholesterol, and lower saturated fat.”

Haracz noted that “most of the items on the menu have these things,” but if you can make changes to things, then the healthiest option would be an Egg McMuffin that has no butter on it.

“What I would recommend is you go for breakfast, you get a McMuffin, and ask for it without butter. That would probably be the healthiest,” he said.

“You’ve got one egg, which is 70 calories, one slice of Canadian bacon, which is lean protein. Yes, I want to keep a little cheese on there so its got some kind of flavor, and then you have the English muffin, which I believe is the lowest calorie carrier that you have.”

The former McDonald’s chef also recommended ordering the Big Breakfast without pancakes.

“There are some options and ways to adjust the menu, however, those things are probably not as tasty as whats on the menu currently,” he concluded.
