Xiaomi Smart Band 10 in for review

The Xiaomi Smart Band 10 is fresh off its announcement and arrives with high expectations. Xiaomi is leading the global wearables shipments, and the Smart Band series has been the main catalyst. So what’s new with the Band 10?

Our review unit is the beautiful Pearl White Ceramic edition, which is available outside of China for the first time. To be clear, it features a ceramic frame while the bottom with the sensors is still plastic. It feels more premium than the previous Smart Bands we’ve used, but it does come at a cost.

We measured the Band 10 Ceramic edition at 26 grams on its own and 44 grams with its fluororubber strap. That’s nearly as heavy as the Xiaomi Watch S4 – a full-fledged smartwatch.

On to the second new addition – the larger 1.72-inch AMOLED screen. It gets symmetrical bezels, which are thinner than any previous Smart Band, and the panel now maxes out at 1,500 nits HBM brightness, which is 300 nits more than the Band 9 from last year.

Band 10 gets an updated linear vibration motor, which now supports custom vibration patterns for incoming calls and alarms.

Xiaomi also updated its health and activity tracking algorithms, added a new 9-axis sensor and support for heart rate data broadcasting, all while retaining its claimed 21 days of battery life. We’ll make sure to test those claims in our full review, so stay tuned.
