Sullivan’s Crossing Season 3 spoiled its biggest cliffhanger before Episode 1 aired

Canadian fans, listen up – Sullivan’s Crossing Season 3 is dropping on CTV from April 27. It’s already 10 days earlier than the US premiere, but its biggest cliffhanger was spoiled long before either.
Think Virgin River, but with more water. The binge-worthy TV show follows neurosurgeon Maggie (Morgan Kohan), who gives up her big city life after some devastating personal trauma. She decides to move back to her childhood town of Sullivan’s Crossing, where estranged dad Sully (Scott Patterson) runs a local campground.
While there, Maggie falls in love with the new guy in town, Cal (Chad Michael Murray), kicking off a seasons-long will-they-won’t-they relationship that becomes a love triangle along the way.
Keeping up? Well, that’s not even the big Season 2 cliffhanger – and it’s the answer to this that Sullivan’s Crossing Season 3 gave away before a single episode even aired.
Sullivan’s Crossing Season 3 promo already gave away Sully’s survival
If you’ve been paying close attention to the TV show’s marketing campaign, you’ll have noticed it was already revealed Sully survived the fire at Shandon’s Diner.
The final scenes of Season 2 showed the diner exploding with Sully still inside, purposefully leaving a question mark over whether he survived or died. Something which was intended to be revealed in Season 3 Episode 1 – which it was – was given away well before, thanks to photos of Patterson on set and a preview trailer posted on socials.
Set photos themselves could have been written off as filming flashbacks or more scenes to support the Season 2 cliffhanger, but the trailer completely undoes that theory. Just after we recap the night of the fire, Sully is seen healthy and well, struggling to come to terms with the luxury development happening nearby.
“Wait. So Sully is not dead? Spoiler…,” one Instagram reply read, with another commenting “SPOILERS!! But I LOVE IT.”
A third weighed in, “OMG !!! So this means Sully isn’t dead!!! I just knew they wouldn’t kill him off … it wouldn’t be the same w/o Sully!! Love that Maggie is FINALLY opening up to him!”

If we’re honest, it was very unlikely the new TV show would have killed Sully off. Shows like Virgin River and Sweet Magnolias don’t typically reference death unless it’s happened off-screen (or over a long period of time). Killing someone off in a freak accident is almost an unwritten no-no, so are we really surprised Sullivan’s Crossing has kept hold of its biggest name?
Obviously, Sully’s got a lot in store ahead of him, but it won’t just be his own storylines he’ll be affected by. Just before the fire, he’d told Lola he was responsible for the car crash that killed her mother a decade before, and that’s not going to be something that’s resolved or forgiven immediately.
Maggie’s also exploring her romance with Cal once again, even though she’s pregnant with ex-boyfriend Andrew’s baby. How will Sully cope with the impending grandpa drama?
