Yellowstone fans disprove 1923 theory about Elizabeth being pregnant

As the Dutton lineage debate continues throughout 1923 Season 2, Yellowstone fans are quite certain that Liz isn’t hiding a new pregnancy.

Liz has been through the ringer in 1923 Season 2, even though it’s only been two episodes. The Yellowstone prequel kicked-off with her almost being killed by a mountain lion, and Episode 2 soon followed with a full-on wolf attack.

Now, Liz is trapped in the house with a mauled ankle and has to be subjected to multiple painful rabies shots to avoid the worse-case scenario. It’s an ordeal, and her fearful, frantic reaction to getting the jab in her stomach led to a new theory that she is pregnant again.

However, as some online comments have pointed out, this isn’t necessarily the case.

Liz’s fear of needles in 1923 isn’t due to pregnancy

In Season 2 Episode 2, a doctor arrives at the Dutton Ranch to examine Liz after her animal attack. He advises a rabies shot to ensure the outcome doesn’t become fatal, but Liz panics upon seeing the needle. In the end, she has to be held down in order to get the injection in her stomach.

She’s clearly distressed, and it caused viewers to wonder if her protectiveness over her stomach meant that she’d become pregnant again after her miscarriage in Season 1.

However, there are many other reasons for her reaction. Namely, back in 1923, a rabies shot wouldn’t have been as easy-going as modern medicine. In fact, it would have been quite painful.

Liz is traumatised after her first shot

This, paired with her previous trauma of losing a child, could easily account for why she doesn’t want to be held down and injected in her stomach.

As one Reddit user wrote, “It’s trauma related to getting shot in the stomach and losing a child. After that having someone jab a needle in you might feel rather invasive.”

Another agreed, adding, “She recently had a miscarriage and was shot in that area. She probably feels the treatment will somehow affect her fertility, especially since it has to be injected into her stomach. Anyone or anything near her stomach probably triggers PTSD.”

“Years ago rabies shots were painful,” a third noted. “Nowadays they’re similar to a flu vaccine. So it’s likely Elizabeth knew it would be painful. Then add in that she had recently had a miscarriage. And still wants a baby.”
