Katie Holmes pays tribute to late Dawson’s Creek co-star

Katie Holmes has paid tribute to her late Dawson’s Creek co-star Obi Ndefo, following his death over the weekend.

The actor played Bodie Wells on the turn-of-the-millennium teen drama, opposite Holmes’ Joey Potter. The cause of death is unknown at the time of writing.

In an Instagram Story, Holmes wrote: “He was wonderful to work with and such a kind man. I send prayers and grace to his family. Rest in peace.”

Fellow Dawson’s actor Mary-Margaret Humes, who played the lead character Dawson’s mum Gail, also shared a tribute on her Instagram page.

Alongside a compilation of photos and videos of Ndefo and his fellow cast members from back in the day, Humes wrote: “These words don’t come easy. It’s hard for me to conceive that you have left us, my dear friend.

“You always were and always will be a bright shining light. What an example of pure unfiltered love and tenacity you set as you faced life’s challenges of recent.

“I will cherish all of our messages of love and support to each other over the past few years. Rest in peace sweet warrior. #dawsonscreek #tvfamily #foreverfriends.”

In 2019, Ndefo was hit by a car and lost both of his legs. He used his social media to show fans that he continued to pursue fitness and entered Yoga Warrior competitions, and he shared efforts to crowdfund a state-of-the-art pair of prosthetic legs.

Aside from Dawson’s Creek, Ndefo appeared in Stargate SG-1, The Jamie Foxx Show, and two different Star Trek shows. In 2021, he made his final credited TV acting role, in an episode of NCIS: Los Angeles.

All six seasons of Dawson’s Creek can be streamed now on ITVX.
