What sorts of dark and disturbing locations have been discovered? Let’s take a look.

Couple call police after finding secret room behind bookcase

You may have seen a similar scenario in in fiction, but it’s happened in real life. In April 2024, an Iowa couple removed the carpet in their basement, only to find a sliding drywall pocket door that led into a small room with a drain, a functional light switch with a bulb, several mats and “rust” patches on the floor.

Shocked, the couple called the police to investigate, but no evidence of a crime was discovered. The cops did think the hidden room was “really cool” though, according to the homeowners.

Noelle Pierce, a photographer in North Carolina, was visiting her cousin’s newly-bought house in 2024 when she found a children’s playroom inside a closet.

The room, which featured low ceilings and butterfly wallpaper, also had two smaller doors off to the side.

According to Pierce, she had opened the doors and found storage areas, but the existence of the hidden room caught her off guard because it wasn’t even included in the home’s Zillow listing.

Real estate agent discovers basement “dungeon”

Realtor Finds Dungeon

In 2024, a real estate agent in Florida was stunned after she opened what she believed to be a closet door in a bedroom at the back of the house – and uncovered a completely new area.

This section consisted of an iron jail-cell-style door that led down to an underground room equipped with electricity, water and a dehumidifier.

Considering Florida houses don’t typically have basements, this discovery had users split on whether it was some sort of “dungeon” or a bunker.

Couple find secret manhole 20ft under their jacuzzi

In April of 2024, a couple were renovating their living room when they moved their jacuzzi, discovering a manhole underneath.

The manhole ended up leading to Lake Huron in Michigan, but it’s impossible to pump the water out, because it’s connected to the lake from a 6-foot pipe.

While not as creepy as other items on this list, a manhole under your house is certainly freaky and raises questions about its origin.

Back in September of 2023, a TikToker named Adrian stumbled across wads of cash and a binder.

After getting home, Adrian opened the binder, revealing more money, instructions with dollar amounts and names and even human hair.

Viewers urged the TikToker to leave the stash alone, believing he had found a “paper route” as a kind of “dead drop” — a way for two individuals to exchange items or information in a secret manner.

The TikToker was urged to return everything where he’d found it, with commenters afraid the owners would come looking for him – especially if they were doing something illegal.

Couple receive message alerting them to secret rooms

TikTok couple discover ‘creepy’ hidden rooms in their 130-year-old home

A few years ago, a couple named Courtney and Matt received mail from someone claiming to be the last surviving owner of the 130-year-old house they were living in.

The message informed them that there were “secret rooms” in the house and explained where to find them.

First, they found a secret liquor cabinet above the fireplace in their front parlor, which was tucked away behind a sliding, mirrored panel.

Next, the letter led them to a small craws space found in the washroom directly opposite the door in the wall. Courtney then unearthed a tiny, locked door placed directly opposite their toilet, which opened up to a trunk room.

The couple were unable to access the third room, but given how the eerie message was right about the first two, it’s clear that this is a house filled with secrets.

A man out for a jog on his property was taken aback when he located a cabin just 1,000 feet from his home in the woods.

Someone had built a platform in front of a shed to act as a roof and put a green tent on top of it.

After making this discovery, the man called the police, who then searched the area trying to find whoever was camped out on the property.

Imagine going to Walmart and suddenly finding out that the store had been selling cardboard cutouts of you.

That’s exactly what happened to TikToker Kelsey Kotzur when she found out that her likeness was being sold without her knowledge or consent.

According to the TikToker, a website was selling the merch on major retailers’ virtual storefronts, including companies like Etsy, Amazon, and Walmart – something she never thought would happen when she started making videos on the internet.
