5 huge predictions for The Pitt Episode 15

It’s the last hour of the ER shift from hell (Whitaker’s words, not mine), and things could still get worse. Our predictions for The Pitt season finale are only the tip of the iceberg.
For those of us who don’t grace a hospital on a daily basis, it turns out a typical day can include being peed on by a patient with psychosis, being punched by others for bad waiting room times, and constantly trying not to have people die on your watch.
If that wasn’t enough, The Pitt’s Season 1 shift has gotten even worse with the arrival of casualties from a mass shooting. A local music festival was the target, with SWAT teams and staff racing to find out who’s responsible – and save the lives of the survivors.
As the ER calms back down in the new TV show, we aren’t going to find out who the shooter was. But what lies ahead in the final episode? Here’s the five big predictions we’re making for The Pitt season finale.
David takes a turn for the worse
Obviously, our main storyline is going to be focused on David. Bringing his mom to the ER in Episode 1, we learn she faked being sick in order to try and get David sectioned. By the end of the pilot, he fled after being asked to talk to the hospital’s social worker, claiming there was nothing wrong with him.
He returned to the hospital later in the day to pick his mom up, where things took a turn for the worse. His departure means there’s reason to suspect he could be behind the mass shooting when we hear the news in Episode 12, prompting Cassie to detain him for a mandatory 72-hour watch. By Episode 14, he’s in the clear but reacting badly to being told his mom has signed a consent form for him to be sectioned.
We’re only just beginning to see the fallout here, and it’s going to be bad. There’s no telling how badly David could react to his sectioning, potentially risking the lives of everybody in the ER. He’s still detained but without handcuffs, and Robby is a clear target. Being the medic who’s worked the most closely with his mom won’t be a good thing, but is David all bark and no bite?
Remember, David’s mom said in Episode 1 that she “doesn’t believe” her son would actually hurt anyone, but later added, “that’s probably how all parents feel before their children do something horrific.” His naturally volatile personality shows no signs of calming down, which would be worse if any of the girls from his hit list ended up in the Pittfest casualties.
McKay’s past comes to light

While all this is going on, McKay’s got a new problem. Just as she’s tasked with cleaning up her mess – going against Robby’s expertise to detain David and aggravate his behavior – the police show up. But they’re not looking for David… they’re looking for her.
Why? She’s tampered with her ankle monitor to prevent it from going off while performing life-saving surgery on the festival casualties. In Episode 2, we begin to see her tag malfunctioning, blaring the alarm while she’s still in the authorized confines of the hospital. But now she’s been arrested, we need to find out the truth.
Up until now, McKay’s reasoning for wearing a tag in the first place is hazy. She previously revealed losing custody of her son, with ex-partner Chad and said son turning up to the ER after a skating accident. However, we haven’t properly bridged the gap between the two things yet.
After Episode 14’s shocking cliffhanger, there’s no doubt this one needs to be addressed ASAP. With Fiona Dourif’s real-life dad Brad Dourif (aka Chucky) making a cameo here too, could we see more of him in the finale?
Robby has a breakthrough

Poor, poor Robby. He’s decided to come in on the anniversary of the death of his beloved mentor Dr. Adamson, and things have blown up in his face. Struggling with what he went through five years before at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Robby has been haunted by visions of Adamson the entire way through this shift. Throw in a literal mass shooting, and it’s surprising he’s still standing.
He’s already had a panic attack, found cowering on the floor of an empty room from Episodes 13-14. Luckily, Whitaker has been able to coax him back out of his shell, returning to the ER as if nothing had happened. Ideally, what we need for him now is to realize all of his strife is worth it.
It’s not quite clear why Robby decided to show up to work, but as the ultimate payoff, making him see his worth – while realizing Adamson’s death doesn’t have to define him – would be a perfect end to Season 1. Nobody else could have held together the shift like he has, so let’s give him a reward.
Santos steps up

Out of the three med students who have stepped up to the plate this shift, Santos has been the most aggravating. Overcome with ego and attitude, her overconfidence has been an issue from the get-go. This quietly built up until the midpoint of the series, where her fiery argument with Langdon started to rightfully take her down a peg or two. However, she’s not quite realized how detrimental she’s being to her own future, which needs to change.
While Robby needs building up, Santos needs proper grounding. She’s got a lot to learn even if she doesn’t think so – and you’d like to think the last 14 hours would mean she’d happily eat humble pie. She nearly killed a patient by requesting a BiPAP, for God’s sake. Let’s make some last-minute epiphanies happen, people.
Javadi gets what she deserves

On the other end of the med student spectrum, Javadi is the one who’s been quietly impressive. Yes, she might be a nepo baby, but she’s an incredibly talented one. At only 20 years old, she’s been able to step out of her mom’s shadow to impress those she needs to in her own right. With several perfectly performed procedures under her belt, now is the time for praise.
In all honesty, the Pitt would be fools to let her go. Both her parents work there, but Javadi’s natural talent for what is clearly her passion is easily recognized. She’ll work hard to get where she wants to, and that’s exactly what the ER needs after coming from such severe scrutiny from Gloria. Mass shooting success aside – can the ER stay in the team’s hands if they promise to bring Javadi in as official fresh blood?
