LoL prodigy from About Time Faker is on track for LCK Academy Debut

A young Korean student and League of Legends prodigy who appeared on the charity show, About Time Faker, to meet the pro gamer himself has made headlines with fans again. This time he’s on track to make an LCK Academy debut within the next two years.

League of Legends has always been massive in Korea, and the LCK has inspired many a young gamer to aspire to the dream of going pro.

In fact, in 2021, LoL superstar Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok appeared in an episode of the Korean variety show, About Time, to meet with a young aspiring LoL player and his father.

The episode showed Faker getting emotional as he learned the reason the pair were appearing — the father had been diagnosed with cancer, and he wanted to do what he could to help his son achieve his dreams in the time he had left. The emotional episode stayed with fans across the world.

Recently a follow-up was aired on Korean breakfast TV, with the student, Jimin, appearing with his mother. And revealing a new heartwarming development; the young prodigy is still training hard with the hopes of achieving his dreams.

League of Legends fans were elated to discover this news. Korean-speaking fans pitched in to translate the segment to find out Jimin is training for a potential LCK Academy League debut within the next couple of years.

“I want to become a professional gamer and reunite with the idol I met,” Jimin said in the new segment, talking about his enrollment in one of Seoul’s esports academies.

“I want to rise to pro league and meet Faker again,” he continued, explaining his goals. And he even had a request for the pro gaming legend; “Please wait for me a little longer.”

The aspiring young player has told Korean TV his goal is to meet his idol Faker again.

“I felt like crying when I thought of his father, who did his best to support his son’s dream,” said one Twitter user. Also sharing the full segment in Korean.

The sentiment was overwhelmingly positive, with fans hoping Jimin does get the chance to reunite with his hero.

“Dreams do come true,” another user tweeted. “Imagine if he gets into TEA and sees Faker… his dad must be real proud.”
